What sounds like rod knock but isn't?

It's tapping away pretty vigorously in there............

If it quiets down either under load, or as it warms up, then it's piston slap.

If it's constant no matter what it's a rod.  

The video makes it sound like a rod to me, but I've never diagnosed something like this via video.   I have to "be there" to accurately figure it out.

Sounds like a lower end rod bearing to me. Sounds just like my rt1 did when I had 2 cranks in it throw rods. It sounds pretty loud if it is, but the only way to check is to pull the cylinder and head. With that much noise, you should notice up and down movement.

Agreed. When you have the top end (and piston) off, pull up on the small end of the rod (@ TDC) and tap sharply down on it. If you feel a thunk (or your favorite sound effect...), the big end bearing is...
